Slovak Museum of Nature Conservation and Caves

The Slovak Museum of Nature Conservation and Caves in Liptovsky Mikulas offers you a unique experience and a different view of the beauty of Slovakia. The museum is housed in a historic building and in 2015 it has undergone a complete reconstruction. This makes this museum more attractive and interesting not only for children but also for older visitors. The museum is divided into several expositions that drag you into the depths of your secrets. In Karst and Cave exposition you will learn a lot of information about the cave, cave decoration, water, surface and underground karst, as well as the animals inhabiting these places. Also present is a replica of the cave bear, which was a third bigger than the brown bear today. There is also the opportunity to become a cave for a short while and try to cross the narrow cave. On the second floor, you will be more familiar with minerals, plant and animal life of Slovakia. Here you can not only see animals, but also hear what makes the experience of this place even more excited. There are also palaeontology and space exposures that will take you from the beginning of the Earth and the whole solar system, and for a while you will return to the past, when our Earth still inhabited dinosaurs, mammoths, or people.  

You should not omit even part of the human, mountain and nature that will bring you leisure-time and economic activities such as forestry, agriculture, fishing, bee-keeping, climbing, skiing, rescue and their impact on nature. For children, there is a recreational zone where you can play and relax. 

Acoustic and visual technologies are available in all exposures, giving you the opportunity to learn a lot of informative and informative information in a fun and playful way. The museum also has a lookout tower, which offers a nice view of the panorama of the Western and Low Tatras, Veľká Fatra, Chočské vrchy as well as the town of Liptovsky Mikulas.
