Liptov museum in Ružomberok

Expositions of geology, paleontology, botany and zoology give you a wealth of information on the rocks and minerals found on Liptov, as well as on the plants and trees typical of this area. Visitors can see the animals that inhabit the streams, meadows and forests of our Liptov. You can even find dressed animals such as wolves, bears, savages, and others with whom you will not get anywhere in your ordinary life. 


If you love history and like to know how it lived in the past, you are in the right place. 

The exposition of the Liptov Village offers you a view of the common village life - folk costumes typical of individual municipalities, as well as the farming and agriculture of this period. 

Another exposure will bring you closer to the rise and development of healthcare in Ruzomberok. Exposed are toothpicks and various medical aids that will surely interest you. You can also learn about the Liptov settlement itself, about period platidlá, weapons, but also about crafts such as knitting, shoemaking, garbiaries, pernikary, pottery and others.

You will learn more about Andrej Hlinka through an exposition that was created in his honor. He takes you all his life, and there is a collection of his personal things that have been preserved.


As Ružomberok is characteristic of the paper industry, one of the exhibits is also devoted to it. You can see the tools and devices used in the past for making paper as well as handmade paper. An interesting feature of this exposition is an electronic information panel that takes you through the origins and origins of paper.

Part of the Liptov Museum includes exhibits of sacral art collected from several municipalities and towns of Liptov.
